Yamcon Wins Summary Judgment Motion in Lawsuit with Meade
IRVINE, Calif.August 2, 2005-- The United State District Court of the Central District of California has granted Yamcon’s motion for Summary Judgment, confirming that its SkyScout “Personal Planetarium” product does not infringe Meade Instrument Corporation’s (Nasdaq: MEAD) 5,311,203 patent.
“We are extremely pleased to have the court confirm what we’ve known all along, that Yamcon’s technology in no way infringes the ‘203 patent that Meade recently acquired,” said Mike Lemp, the CEO of Yamcon. “As I said when this lawsuit began, Yamcon has always prided itself on the integrity in which we have pursued our business. Our technology and our products are truly unique, and despite Meade’s litigious tactics, we will be bringing the SkyScout to market, and the way people learn about astronomy will change forever.”
The District Court issued its Order on Monday, August 1st, ending litigation that started in October of 2004.
